Malanda Cemetery is a modern lawn cemetery with columbarium that was established around 1998. The grounds are well set out and maintained by the Tablelands Regional Council with attractive shrubs and a shelter with seating. It is so arranged that the columbarium forms the rear wall of the shelter so affording protection from the weather for the plaques on it.
Peter Patterson-Kane has contributed images and data that he and Karen made during a visit to the cemetery in September 2009. The list of inscriptions for this cemetery has been compiled from their images and notes and with reference to the Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.
From Malanda, head north-west on the Malanda - Yungaburra Road for 6km and turn right into Topaz Road. The cemetery is 0.5km from this point and on the right hand side of the road.
Malanda Cemetery is administered by the Tablelands Regional Council. For further information, contact Council at PO Box 573 Atherton Qld 4883; phone: 1300 362 242; email: info@trc.qld.gov.au
