Off Warrego Highway,
The Warra Cemetery was photographed by Jim Dudgeon in April 2008. He found inscriptions dating from 1902 and a number of unmarked graves. He says that the condition of the graves and stones range in condition from excellent to very poor and that some are in need of restoration.
The site is maintained by volunteers who, Jim says, do a marvellous job. In 2007, the old wooden post and rail fence was replaced with a new steel front fence and the ornate entrance archway and gate was restored and erected by local farmers. There are no portion or row markers nor amenities on site.
Jim's images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. That list was compiled with reference to the Queensland BDM online search facility and to military records for additional information.
From the township, take the Warrego Highway towards Dalby for 0.5 km and turn right into the cemetery lane. The cemetery is 0.6km from the highway on the left hand side of the road.
Warra Cemetery is administered by the Dalby Regional Council. For further information, contact Council at PO Box 551, Dalby Qld 4405; phone: 07 4672 1100; email: info@dalbyrc.qld.gov.au
