The information and images for this cemetery were originally supplied by Roma Waldron, who visited the site some years ago. Further images and data of later burials and several unmarked burials were subsequently supplied by both Liz Pritchard and Joe Sharman. We are very grateful to all three for their individual contributions.
Known burials at Attunga General Cemetery date from 1872 with the earliest actual inscription found dated 1881. Several of the stones have fallen and broken and others are partly missing but, generally, the little burial ground seems to have weathered the years pretty well. The attached list incorporates the results of research carried out by both Roma and Liz and with reference to the NSW indexes of births, deaths and marriages, as well as military records. The assistance of Janette Downey in this latter area of research is gratefully acknowledged.
