The cemetery was established in association with a small weatherboard Methodist church built in 1882 and demolished in 1967. The first recorded burial is for 1883 and the cemetery remained active till 1967.

There are approximately 51 recorded burials with only 16 extant memorials covering 22 people. One large plot has six members of the Negus family.

The cemetery is on land which slopes from the Old Princes Highway down to the shore of the lake and is surrounded by stands of eucalypt and pine.
