Hinton Pioneer
Hinton Pioneer Cemetery was photographed and listed by Ruth King, who visited the cemetery on 1 Jan 2006. It contains inscriptions dating from as early as 1851. Many of the stones have fallen and broken and there are many now unmarked graves. Some of the inscriptions are very difficult to read but Ruth has done a great job in deciphering and identifying them.
In compiling the list of inscriptions, we have referred extensively to the NSW indexes of births, deaths and marriages for further information. Ruth's images may be viewed and downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery.
Hinton is a village 3km north of Morpeth. From Morpeth, take the Hinton Road. After crossing the river and entering the village, continue straight ahead into Paterson Street.
