Mungindi General Cemetery
Address: Carnarvon Highway, Mungindi 2406 NSW
Mungindi General Cemetery succeeded two earlier cemeteries on the Queensland side of the State border. It apparently was established around the turn of the 20th century, the earliest inscription extant being 1895. The portions and rows are clearly marked. As yet there is no columbarium provided.
Jane Ison visited the cemetery during October 2009 and made digital images of every visible inscription. She found the monuments generally in good order with most upright and legible and no evidence of vandalism. The grounds are maintained in reasonable condition by Moree Plains Shire Council. There are no facilities.
Jane's images may be viewed from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. That list was compiled from her images and with reference to both the NSW and Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.
