Gravesend Cemetery
Address: Off Gwydir Highway, Gravesend 2401 NSW
Gravesend Cemetery was in use for only about 27 years with known burials recorded between 1927 and 1944. The cemetery was then closed as the shale ground was considered to be too hard. Robert Tozer has contributed his images of the seven monuments extant that he photographed c. 2000. Since then, Pat Withers, a local historian who has done considerable research on graves at this cemetery and elsewhere in the area, has supplied details of a further eight known but unmarked graves at Gravesend.
Robert's images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. In compiling the list, reference was made to the NSW indices of births, deaths and marriages for further information.
